Tourism Animation Program
Program Overview
Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete all the courses in the program (totally 120 ECTS) and who have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 can get an associate degree diploma in TOURISM ANIMATION.
Admission Requirements
Students need to be successful in the ÖSYS exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Admission conditions for foreign students are announced on the university's website at the beginning of each academic year.
Qualification Requirements
In order to obtain an associate degree in Tourism Animation, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (totally 120 ECTS) and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
Prior Education
For students who want to transfer to Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University from higher education institutions in Turkey and abroad, the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfers are applied.
History
Marmaris Tourism Vocational School was established in 2012 and started its activities in Icmeler, Marmaris.
Program Profile
The Tourism Animation program carries out a training plan in order to train "Animators" who can take part in hospitality industries or stage shows. The program includes compulsory courses related to the animator profession and general culture. In addition to the compulsory courses, in the education plan, there are elective courses that students have the chance to choose according to their own preferences. Thus, Tourism Animation Program trains graduates who will be able to define tourism animation and produce solutions through interdisciplinary studies either individually or in groups.
Program Outcomes
1-To have basic knowledge about various fields of art.
2-To be able to apply subjects such as dance, acting, music, decor-costume realization, sports, foreign language to animation problems.
3-To be able to successfully perform and end any stage show or activity.
4-To be able to use at least two foreign languages sufficiently.
5-To have a sense of professional and ethical responsibility.
6-To have all the qualifications required by the animator profession.
7- To have knowledge about the cultural psychology of the guests.
8-To have sufficient knowledge about the production or procurement process of materials to be used in stage shows or daily activities.
9-To have sufficient qualifications in the field of sports.
10- To transfer our local culture to other cultures and future generations correctly.
11- To know how services such as recreation, animation, entertainment and sports activities are organized and presented in hotels.
12- To know and apply sports and game knowledge, stage practice, world dances, step-aerobics and choreography practices.
13- To have technical knowledge of stage equipment, child psychology, basic music knowledge, art and technique of speech, management and organization, culture and folk sciences, child animation and adaptation techniques, and to take an active role in organizations related to these subjects.
14- To apply the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in school and internship studies easily in the sector.
15- To have the ability to work under workload, stress and pressure.
16- To know the legal regulations and professional standards in the field of tourism.
17- To have effective and healthy communication with subordinates and superiors.
18- To know and apply make-up techniques, comedy techniques, movement, rhythm and dance techniques.
19- To protect national and ethical values, and to pay attention to these values in his/her work.
20- To follow the innovations related to his/her profession constantly and to improves himself / herself constantly.
21-To keep up with the developing technology, to produce solutions using the internet and computer and to follow the agenda.
Exams, Assessment and Grading
Students are subjected to midterm and final exams for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the final grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%.
All exams are evaluated out of 100 points.
Students who receive one of the letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course are considered to be successful in that course.
In addition, students who have GPA of at least 2.00 for a semester are considered to be successful in the courses they have received with a letter grade of DC. At the end of each semester, students can take a resit exam from at most two courses of that semester.
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete all courses in the program (totally 120 ECTS) and achieve a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are entitled to graduate. In addition to successfully completing the courses, 30-day vocational training internships are essential for graduation.
Graduate Employment
Graduates work in tourism sector with the title of "Animator". Animators can find jobs in tourism sector enterprises, entertainment sector, kindergarten and primary schools, municipalities, Public Education Institutions, animation agencies, organization companies, theaters and televisions.
Upgrading
Candidates who successfully complete their associate degree education can study in respective undergraduate programs if they are successful for the Vertical Transfer Examination.
